God’s PERSONAL Will

1. God’s Sovereign Will: God’s UNSTOPPABLE, UNCHANGEABLE plan that directs all things toward His purpose

• Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass ... Isaiah 46:10 NLT
• Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails. Proverbs 19:21 NIV

2. God’s Moral Will: TIMELESS TRUTHS revealed in His Word for how we live

• God’s will is for you to be holy … 1 Thessalonians 4:3 NLT

HOLY (hagios): set apart, different, sacred, dedicated to God

You can’t WALK in God’s will if you’re DISOBEYING his word.

3. God’s Permissive Will: the FREEDOM God gives us to make choices, even when they’re not perfect

... You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is beneficial. 1 Corinthians 10:23 NLT

4. God’s Personal Will: God’s UNIQUE, SPECIFIC calling for you

• For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10 NIV
• I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Psalm 32:8 NIV

We OVERCOMPLICATE God’s will and UNDERESTIMATE God’s goodness.

• We TRUST God’s sovereign will.
• We OBEY God’s moral will.
• We ACCEPT God’s permissive will.
• We WALK IN God’s personal will.
